Outlook Express (Windows) Instructions on Setting Up Email Accounts

These directions should work for most recent Microsoft Outlook Express versions, running on Microsoft Windows 98 and later.

  • Launch Outlook Express
  • Under "Tools" select "accounts..."
  • Select the "mail" tab.
  • From the "Mail" tab, click on the "add..." button, and select "Mail".
  • Select the "mail" tab.
  • Input these settings:
    • Display Name: YourName
    • Email address: YourName@yourdomain.com
    • Incoming email server type: POP (not IMAP)
    • Incoming mail (POP) server: pop.yourdomain.com
    • Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: smtp.yourdomain.com
    • Account ID: YourName@yourdomain.com
    • Password: Password (case sensitive)
    • Account Name: Enter what name you would like to use to identify this account
  • Click "Finish".

***If you are having issues sending mail, make sure that under your "Outgoing Server" settings that you have "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" and that you use the same settings as the incoming mail server.
